This is just a more-or-less standard grafted toe. The toe is worked after the side seam is grafted. It's just a scant inch or so long and really doesn't add any appreciable length to the foot of the sock.

Materials:
- *3 dpns, size 2 US (2.0mm) or same size used in sock.
- Small amount of one of the color used in the sock
(I used the solid one).

RS facing, hold the sock so that the toe edge of the front of the sock is in the working position. Starting at the just- grafted "side seam", pick up one stitch under the single thread in between each purl bump of the toe edge.
Continue across the front of the sock to the other "side seam"  (16 sts on the needle.)**
With another needle, continue picking up sts across the back of the sock (heel side) in the same manner until there are 16 sts on the needle (32 sts total).

First round:
K1, SSK, K to last 3 sts, K2tog, K1. You should be at the end of the first needle.
Repeat for the second needle. (28 sts total).
Repeat first round until there are 8 sts on each side.
Break yarn leaving a generous tail and graft the toe sts.

NOTES:
* I used only 3 needles but if it's too hard to handle you can split them out on 4 needles. Direx are written for 3 needles. Just remember where the "side seams" are while working.
** The number of sts will vary if you have adjusted the circumference of the sock. As long as you pick up the same number on the top and bottom of the sock, it's ok.
